1. Who we are

Nudgar (“we,” “us”) provides a reminder and record-keeping service that tracks certifications, licences, insurance, and other deadlines for businesses and individuals in the UK. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.

2. What we collect

• Account details: name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text).
• Entity and compliance data you enter: business/individual details, sector, qualifying answers, deadline dates, and any notes you add.
• Documents you upload (e.g. certificates, insurance schedules) and any dates our AI extracts from them.
• Your phone number, if you choose to add one to receive SMS reminders — this is optional.
• Basic usage data such as sign-in timestamps, needed to operate and secure the service.

3. How we use it

We use your data to run the service you signed up for: building your compliance checklist, storing your documents, extracting dates from them, and sending you reminders before deadlines lapse. We don't sell your personal data.

4. Who we share it with

We use third-party processors to run Nudgar. Each only receives the data it needs to perform its function:

• Neon — hosts our database (account and compliance data).
• Vercel — hosts the application and stores uploaded documents (Vercel Blob).
• Anthropic — processes uploaded documents to extract dates (document images/text).
• Resend — sends transactional emails such as reminders and password resets.
• Twilio — sends SMS reminders, if you've opted in and added a phone number (receives your phone number and the reminder text).
• Stripe — processes payments for the Pro plan, if you subscribe (receives your name, email, and card details). We never see or store your full card number.

We don't share your data with advertisers or data brokers. If the Free tier displays ads in future, this section will be updated to describe the ad provider and any data shared with it before that happens.

5. Data retention

We keep your account and compliance data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and uploaded documents within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain limited records by law.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address on our website. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you think we've mishandled your data.

7. Cookies and ads

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the service. The Free tier is described as ad-supported; if and when ads are introduced, we'll update this section to describe any advertising cookies or tracking used and give you the choices required by law.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures — including hashed passwords and encrypted connections — to protect your data. No system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security of information you transmit to us.

9. Children's privacy

Nudgar is intended for users aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product changes. Material changes will be communicated before they take effect. See also our Terms of Service.
